How to share files with a QR code
A QR code can replace the tedious steps of asking someone to type a room name or copy a link. MallowShare uses a temporary room invite so several participants can join the same sharing space using their phone camera.
1. Create a room, not a separate link for each file
Open MallowShare and select Quick Share or Create Room. Add the documents, photographs or videos you want to share. The room owner can set a time limit of up to ten minutes for new activity; already-started transfers may continue within a controlled grace period.
2. Display the correct QR code
Open Invite or QR Poster and show the full-size QR code to a recipient. The invitation is an access key. Anyone who obtains it while valid may join, so do not post a private QR publicly. The owner can rotate the invite to invalidate earlier access links.
3. Scan using a phone
Your phone’s camera app can scan a QR code. In-app camera scanning requires a secure HTTPS connection. For testing from another phone, open the deployed HTTPS URL, not a your development address link from your laptop.
4. Download only what you need
Participants see a shared file wall and can choose a single file or select several. Creating a ZIP is optional, not forced on everyone. A participant must be online with a device able to deliver the requested file unless an explicitly supported temporary copy is available.
Troubleshooting QR invitations
If the QR opens the wrong device, check the hostname within the encoded link. A URL containing your development address can only work on the scanning device itself. If the camera permission is blocked, use the device camera with the QR poster, paste an invite link, or upload an image of the QR code.
