How temporary file-sharing rooms work
Understand temporary sharing rooms, expiring QR invitations, participant permissions, large-file transfers, and privacy tradeoffs with MallowShare.
A room is a temporary workspace, not a cloud folder
Unlike a long-lived cloud folder, a temporary sharing room is meant to coordinate a short session. Participants join through a password or invite; they can see authorized files and chat while the room remains open. The room timer governs when users can join and start new activity, but it does not retroactively erase files already saved on another device.
What happens when the room expires?
When a room expires, the application should revoke access tokens, stop new downloads and close collaboration sessions. Transfers started before the deadline may have a bounded completion period. Any small explicitly cached copies must follow their own cleanup rules. This is different from guaranteeing permanent deletion of material that a recipient already downloaded.
QR invitations are access keys
A QR link can be faster than asking guests to type a room name and password. But it is not public advertising material unless the room is intentionally open. Share it carefully, and rotate the QR if it reaches an unintended recipient. A rotated invitation should no longer authorize new entrants; users already in the room may require separate removal.
Three ways groups can share
In Exchange Mode, participants contribute and download together. In Broadcast Mode, a host sends resources to a group. In Private Collect Mode, people submit documents privately to the owner and should not see submissions from others. Your room permissions and current browser capabilities determine the exact experience.
Why no compulsory ZIP matters
When many files arrive together, a receiver might only need one document. MallowShare’s file wall allows independent selection, and optional collections help people choose a logical set. Creating an archive can be useful for keeping a folder together, but it can waste storage and time when somebody only wants a single photo.
Safety before sending private documents
Check file names and recipients. An invitation can be forwarded, and a device may save downloads outside the temporary room. Use access controls, review permissions in Collect Mode, and use ShareFit to estimate file transfer time and flag potentially sensitive names. ShareFit is not a virus scanner, legal privacy guarantee or actual bandwidth benchmark.
Large files and connection interruptions
Peer-to-peer data flows usually require the original sender to remain online. WebRTC and browser support vary across networks, especially mobile carrier networks or corporate firewalls. The app can warn about interruptions and provide resumable paths where supported, but no web application can guarantee uninterrupted downloads when a device is suspended.
Should search engines index sharing rooms?
No. A private QR invite, token or room conversation should not be public search content. MallowShare marks temporary room and API URLs as not indexable, while public documentation pages can be indexed. Search crawler rules complement authentication and do not replace it.
